Professional Development

Given that 'one-off' training rarely delivers sustainable improvement, we like to work with you to jointly plan and design a improvement process, based on your unique needs and priorities.

Our approach ususally includes:

  • a diagnostic phase, to identify and agree your specific strengths, priorities and needs
  • professional development designed and delivered in response to these needs
  • a program of improvement activities
  • periodic school visits to discuss progress and provide in-school support.

Our professional development aims to help you build capacity for continuous improvement. It is focussed on developing knowledge and know-how in:

  • supporting students to accept responsibility for their learning
  • applying proven tools and methods to increase student engagement and learning
  • understanding the systemic nature of the school and classrooms
  • reducing frustration, confusion, wasted effort and re-work by documenting systems and processes
  • using data to track progress and improve decision making
  • understanding the psychology of motivation and change.

Introduction to Quality Learning

We can design professional development to introduce and demonstrate the practical application of the Quality Learning approach in your setting.

We explore the benefits to your organisation and tailor sessions and activities to your specific needs. This can be useful in introducing your whole staff to the concepts and build support for more wide-spread adoption.

Building a Culture of Continuous Improvement

Our Foundations in Quality Learning seminar series is designed to build capacity within schools for continuous improvement of the whole-of-school as well as in classrooms. The series of seminars is ususally conducted over a two year period.

Seminars are adapted to best meet the needs and priorities of each group participating.

The 4-day Quality Learning Seminar with our US associate David Langford provides a solid basis for adoption of the Quality Learning philosophy and methods, with a particular emphasis on classroom practice. The four-day seminar is a key part of the Foundations in Quality Learning seminar series.

We can design professional development to meet your unique needs. Contact us to find out more.
