Capacity Matrix

A Capacity Matrix is used to describe, document and monitor learning. It allows us to clearly identify what it is we wish to learn, derived from the curriculum and student interests, and then track learning over time.

It can be very effectively used with the Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) cycle and supported with a portfolio that provides evidence of our learning. Capacity Matrices are also used for self-assessment as well as peer assessment and to plan learning activities and resources.

PDSA in the Classroom

The Plan - Do - Study - Act cycle for improvement can be used to facilitate structured, inclusive and sustainable improvement in any area of endeavour.

The following sample templates can be used for the simple application with student learning.

Quality Criteria

Quality criteria can be used by students and teachers to ensure that submitted evidence of learning is of high quality. Unlike a rubric, Quality Criteria provide a definition of the expected standard of quality and can be used to scaffold students to produce quality. The aim is that only quality work be acceptable.

System Map

A System Map helps us to consider and make explicit the components, relationships and context that comprise our complex organisations. It brings together in one diagram an illustration of the key pieces of the system that is our organisation.

Values

The values of an organisation, when inclusively defined and expressed, can have an enormous impact on behaviours and performance of the organisation.
