Michael N King

BE (Hons), MBA, Grad Dip Science (Statistics), Grad Dip Education

Michael is passionate about improving the quality of learning in our school education systems.

In over a decade of working with school systems, Michael has repeatedly observed that schools derive significant benefits from the adoption of a Quality Improvement philosophy and from application of the associated tools and methods. Before focussing on the school sector, he consulted in Quality improvement to a variety of clients ranging from small businesses to large corporations and government agencies.

In 1996, Michael was instrumental in establishing and responsible for leading the Australian Quality Council Quality in Schools initiative. Initially a joint initiative of the Victorian Department of Education and the AQC, it was later adopted by the South Australian Department of Education and Children’s Services. The program was to involve over 350 schools and preschools in the four years between 1998 and 2002.

In 2002 Michael relocated to Canberra and established Quality Learning Australia (QLA). QLA works almost exclusively in the schools sector, serving over three hundred schools in Victoria, South Australia, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. QLA designs and delivers professional development interventions for school leaders and teachers leading to demonstrable and sustainable improvements in school performance and the quality of school life. QLA’s clients continue to be recognised for their sustained improvement efforts in the Australian Government National Awards for Quality Schooling.
